Polish Dominican Vocation Ministry presents
Dominican Friars Vestition Ceremony Warsaw-Sluzew, 17th August 2013
Peace be with you!
What a wonderful day to be clothed
and such a great patron saint for you
who begin your novitiate today.
Saint Hyacinth, the very first Polish dominican,
clothed by Saint Dominic himself
- that's an unusual sign of entering
the almost 800 year history of the Order.
Peace be with you! Do not be afraid!
Receive the Holy Spirit! He will conduct you!
This is an invitation to a life-long journey
and it also regards all of the brothers
who are already solemnly professed and ordained as priests.
This is the journey into yourself.
The very strange paradox of spiritual life:
You are getting inside of yourself in order to get liberated of yourself.
Getting inside of yourself but not getting stuck on yourself,
your experience is that you've been chosen and you are loved,
and that you do not deserve the gift
that you constantly keep on receiving
- God's ceaseless love expressed in thousands of ways.
„Do your utmost to support your faith with goodness,
goodness with understanding,
understanding with self-control,
self-control with perseverance,
perseverance with devotion,
devotion with kindness to the brothers,
and kindness to the brothers with love.
The possession and growth of these qualities
will prevent your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ
from being ineffectual or unproductive."
Teach me, o Lord, the way of thy statues.
As one of contemporary masters of spiritual life wrote,
going through subsequent recesses of your soul
reminds sometimes going through shelled city.
But you have to face it
- with all your frailty and sins
to rediscover that all good put in you
is a fruit of divine mercy and love.
O Jesus Christ, Son of living God!
God calls you out,
but you are the one who makes the choice
This is the greatest adventure and grace.
One of the vital ways to respond to this grace
is to be profoundly thankful
and to set off into this road
with courage and light of the Holy Spirit.
God, you are my God, I pine for you;
my heart thirsts for you,
my body longs for you,
as a land parched, dreary and waterless.
These are the young lambs
These are who cried out Hallelujah!
They've just reached the spring,
becoming full of light!
